Christians Believe Conflict in Middle East Means End Times is Near - Pat Robertson Says Read Ezekiel 38 - Republicans United For Israel Too

Christians Believe Conflict in Middle East Means End Times is Near - Pat Robertson Says Read Ezekiel 38 - Republicans United For Israel Too

Current Events

According to most evangelical Christians, the conflict in the Middle East has been foretold and prophesized and we are living in the “end times”.  Earlier this month 3,500 evangelicals made a pilgrimage to Washington to show support for Israel.  They came from all 50 states and are part of a group called "Christians United for Israel".

They all agreed that America needs to support Israel.  ABC News Nightline ran a segment on the subject last night where an attendee named Gwen Resser from St Louis said, "America needs to stand with Israel according to the word of God, and for victory.  I mean, it's for victory. It's not a time for concessions."  Complete Article

Secretary of State Says Quick Cease Fire Would Be False Promise - Will Travel To Israel and Italy to Meet Arab Country Representatives

Rice Today

The United States may take a more proactive role in pushing for peace in the Middle East.  Today Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice laid out a plan to help bring a peaceful solution to the fighting.  Both Rice and President Bush will discuss their plans with officials from Saudi Arabia before she leaves, according to CTV.

Rice said “We do seek an end to the current violence, and we seek it urgently. More than that, we also seek to address the root causes of that violence, so that a real and endurable peace can be established."  She also plans to attend an international conference in Italy.  Complete Article

US and Chinese Weapons and Technology Being Used in Israeli Hezbollah Conflict – Israelis Were Surprised by Attacks on Warship and Cities

F-16

Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon have been able to launch rockets into southern Lebanon while Israeli artillery has fired into Lebanon.  An estimated 45 people were killed and 100 injured in attacks on Lebanon by the Israeli military.  The Canadian government says that eight vacationing Canadians were killed and six were critically wounded in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah has been able to strike deep into Israel, which was not expected by the Israelis.  Evidently some Israeli analysts were under the impression that they could launch an offensive into Lebanon with impunity.  The International Herald Tribune reported that the Israelis claim that the rockets were a Syrian-produced copy of an Iranian Fajr-3 model.  These rockets have a range of about 30 miles.  This is a change from the smaller Katyushas rockets that Hezbollah has been using.  Complete Article

Israel Invades Lebanon - Israeli Soldiers Kidnapped By Hezbollah Backed By Syria and Iran - European Union Criticizes Israel For Attack

Rice and Saniora

The Lebanese government has said it has no real control over the Hezbollah guerillas that captured two Israeli soldiers on Wednesday.  Hezbollah has been a thorn in the side of many Lebanese.  Past Lebanese governments have insisted that replacing the guerrillas by Lebanese army troops would be a mistake.

Some Lebanese say that replacing Hezbollah would be doing Israel a free service by protecting their northern border from guerilla attacks.  The western-backed government of Prime Minister Fuad Saniora has not yet been able to disarm the guerillas of the Shiite Hezbollah.  Many in the West, including President Bush, fear the Israeli assault could cause the fall of Lebanon's anti-Syrian government. At least eight bombs exploded on commuter trains and in rail stations during the evening rush hour Tuesday in Bombay, India.  The Hindu News agency in India reports that at least 190 persons were killed in the explosions and at lest 625 were injured.

As rescue workers helped shocked passengers from the wreckage, authorities were calling the explosions a synchronized terrorist attack.  Although there have not been any claims for responsibility, the local authorities say that previous attacks in Bombay were committed by Muslim groups motivated by sectarian hatred.  Complete Article

States Buying Anti-Viral Drugs In Case of Avian Flu Pandemic - Federal Government to Negotiate Directly With Roche For Tamiflu - Bird Flu

Many states are working out a deal with the Federal government in an effort to save money on Tamilfu.  The State of New York is spending about $18 million on Tamilfu and $5 million on Relenza.  This is after the state received a C+ grade from the American College of Emergency Physicians in January for not being prepared for the bird flu.  The C+ rating is still better than the C- rating given to the nation as a whole.

The potential disaster caused by the bird flu, if it mutates, could overwhelm the emergency and hospital systems.  Mark Johnson of the Associate Press points out that the purchase of the antiviral drugs is only part of the solution.

Heart Failure or Heart Attack - Enron CEO Ken Lay Could Have Died from Either Condition - Stress is Known Risk Factor - Defibrillators

Portable Heart Defibrillator

Doctors are not sure whether the extra stress killed Enron CEO Ken Lay.  He has been under a lot of stress the past year after his conviction of defrauding investors and employees by repeatedly lying about Enron's finances.  He was looking at a long prison sentence.

He was already being treated for heart disease, but according to Joy Victory, Bharathi Radhakrishnan and the ABC News Medical Unit, he was not viewed as an imminent risk for heart attack.  Back in the mid 1990’s he was prescribed a cholesterol-lowering statin drug. Around five years ago, his coronary disease had progressed to a point where his doctors decided to put in at least one stent.  This is a wire mesh device that was placed in one of his arteries to try to prevent a future heart attack, according to Victory.

Gilad Shalit

Israel has turned up the pressure on the Palestinians by cutting off their water and power.  Israel used their warplanes to knock-out water, power and bridges in an effort to put pressure on militant leaders who kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

It has been reported that the Israeli government has arrested Hamas leaders in an attempt to trade for the captured soldier.  The Associated Press reported that Palestinian security officials said that 30 of their lawmakers were detained.

This comes after the Israelis broke a 16 month cease fire by shelling a beach in Gaza killing a family on June 9th.  Nine days later nine more civilians were killed by an Israeli missile strikes.  Israel Cuts-Off Water and Power to Palestinians and Has Arrested Palestinian Leaders - Bombed Bridges and Moved Troops In

Gitmo Jail Cell

Robert Stroud, the famed Bird Man of Alcatraz, spent 54 years in durance vile, much of it on the Rock, and, apparently, never contemplated suicide. Mani bin Shaman bin Turki al Habradi and Yasser Talal Abdullah Yahya al Zahrani of Saudi Barbaria and Ali Abdullah Ahmed of Yemen spent less than a tenth of that time at Gitmo, and, apparently, unable to stand the strain, sought solace in the long sleep. Obviously, the Bird Man’s fine-feathered friends had something to do with his amazing longevity. According to a report in the International Herald Tribune, WHO scientists have also noted that the H5N1 virus has mutated slightly when the disease was present in the son.  WHO says that it does not mean that it would become easily spread between humans.  The Indonesian cluster at this time is considered insignificant.  Bird Flu – Human to Human Transmission of H5N1 virus confirmed

Iraq War - Have Americans Lost Their Empathy?

Iraq War - Have Americans Lost Their Empathy?

Iraq

When Saddam was accused of crimes against the Kurds, many Americans believed it without hesitation.  Those very same Americans are dumbfounded when Iraqis are quick to judge American soldiers accused of crimes in Iraq.  They say things like “We should not be quick to judge our soldiers” or “the media has convicted the soldiers without a trial”.

Has politics become a football game?  Even when the invasion and occupation has become such an obvious mistake, there are still those who will support it.  There are Americans who blindly support the President, similar to the way some Germans blindly supported Hitler.  I think the biggest problem with people is that they can’t empathize with other people.  Iraq War - Have Americans Lost Their Empathy?

U.S. Air Force photo of and ICBM

There are concerns that North Korea is gearing up to test-launch a new ballistic missile that can reach up to 3,700 miles target.  That is far enough to reach the United States.

According to Korea Times report on June 20th, “They (South Korean government) said it has not been confirmed whether the object on the communist country's launch pad is indeed a missile or a satellite-carrying rocket.”

Even though the missile could be a satellite-carrying rocket, it still puts fear in the South Korean government because of North Korea’s ability to launch long range missiles at a later time.

The North Koreans have been fuelling the missile.  According to a report in Business Day, the fuel is good for only about a month’s time, meaning that there is definite intention for launching in the near future.  North Korea getting ready to test new Ballistic Missile

Today new details of the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi have come to light.  Originally, the US military said the 39 year old al-Zarqawi was killed outright by 500 pound bombs dropped on his hide-out.

Now it appears al-Zarqawi survived the impact of the bombs.  The bombs were so powerful, according to Associated Press reporter Patrick Quinn, that they tore a huge crater in the date palm forest where the house was nestled just outside the town of Baqouba. The local Iraqi police pulled al-Zarqawi from the rubble and placed him on a stretcher.  Al Qaeda In Iraq Leader al-Zarqawi Survived Bomb Blast - Died In US Custody of Wounds - 5 Other Killed In Home Outside Baquba

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez opens own Movie Studio

President Chavez

On Saturday the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez launched a new movie studio located on the edge of Caracas.  The reason for this is to counteract the dominant presence of Hollywood in Venezuela.

Chavez is considered a socialist revolutionary.   The US claims he is a dictator who is dangerous for the countries stability.  Chavez however labels President Bush as a terrorist, one that assaults US free market procedures and mocks the American economic way of life.

Chavez has been allied with Cuba and is rich from oil.  Chavez wants Venezuelan citizens to be less influenced by US culture and wants to produce local films that will reflect their culture.  Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez opens own Movie Studio

“What do you mean, you never heard of me?”

Who…the Dixie Chicks? Never heard of them. Singers, you say? Have they been on the Grand Ole Opry? There have been a lot of Chicks and most of them weren’t singers. There were the Memphis Chicks, a bunch of guys who played baseball for Memphis in the Southern League for years and years and there were the Grand Rapids Chicks, a woman’s professional baseball team from 1943 to 1954. Oh, how those gals could play baseball!  They were as bodacious and as flirtatious and as athletic as Ellie Mae Clampett dating Rock Ripdash or getting a headlock on Cousin Jethro. And they wore miniskirts! That’s right—miniskirts. To see them run the bases was a joy in itself. How about men’s baseball…Peewee Reese and Phil Rizzuto? Bah! A disgrace! The pantaloons they wore back in those days were so baggy it was a wonder they didn’t trip and fall flat on their faces every time they tried to go from first to second.  A Story of two Chicks - Natalie Maines and Connie Wisniewski

A jury found Enron executives Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling guilty of fraud and conspiracy in the 2001 demise of the energy company.  The jury of eight women and four men rendered their verdict in less than six days of deliberation after a four month trial.  Analysts expect both Lay and Skilling could face 20 to 30 years in prison.

Lay, age 64, was convicted of six counts of conspiracy and fraud while the 52 year old Skilling was found guilty of 19 counts of conspiracy, fraud, insider trading and false statements. Matt Daily of Reuters reported that the jurors said they had to disregard the testimony from the two defendants that indicated they believed Enron was a healthy, vibrant company just months before its collapse.  Jurior Freddy Delgado said “To say that you didn't know what was going on in your own company is not the right thing." Marlton, N.J. - Although the jury is still out on the likelihood and potential severity of an outbreak of bird flu among humans in the United States, some companies and states are playing it safe now in the event the disease migrates to our country sooner than later.

Pat Robertson's book, "Bring it On"

Televangelist, Pat Robertson, predicts that tsunami and terrible storms are coming to the United States this year.  He has mentioned these on multiple occasions over the past two weeks on “The 700 Club” television show.  He said the warnings came to him from God in a revelation in January while on his personal prayer retreat.

On one show Robertson said, “If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms.”

Yesterday Robertson said more about the storms, “There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest.”

Pat Robertson has been very controversial and outspoken about politics.  Robertson said the following about Hugo Chavez, “I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it. It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war, and I don’t think any oil shipments will stop.”  Pat Robertson warns that Bad Weather is coming to the USA

US Border Fence

A study by the University of Texas at El Paso’s Institute for Policy and Economic Development looked at US counties that border Mexico for economic and other factors.

The researchers grouped all 24 counties along the border that touch Mexico and treated this as a “51st state”.  By doing this they could compare against the other states in the United States how the bordering areas function economically.

If the border counties became a 51st state they would rank No. 1 in federal crime.  The reason for so many crimes is because of the drug traffic and immigration arrests.  Illegal Immigration Study on US Border Counties Show Shocking Statistics

Orlando, FL--Worried that legislators are crushing school choice, raising taxes, giving handouts to big corporations or well connected local promoters, and suppressing free speech? Wonder if anyone has the political courage to promote counter-intuitive but creative ideas such as private and voluntary regulation of police, cutting crime through concealed carry, or publicize the growing number of police who say the Drug War is actually a front for rackets? LP Party of FL

Pam Beach, FL--Libertarians here selected a small roster of State candidates at their recent convention in Boca Raton, continuing, say attendees,  a strategy of local low-budget candidates and developing a network of 1000 Libertarian supporters in each State House District.

That may not sound like much, but Libertarians have a reputation of being dedicated and focused activists who tend to be community leaders to begin with, who leverage their influence with attention getting ideas supported by quiet coalitions with a wide array of groups. And it would make the Libertarian Party of Florida, or LPF, say observers, not only the largest civic action network in the State, but one of the strongest in the country. It would in effect make it a Libertarian community or city spread through the State.  Florida Libertarians Nominate Candidate and Strategy Continues

In the first House Select Committee on Assassinations 1977 interview with James Earl Ray, Chief Counsel Richard Sprague agreed with Ray and his legal team that all materials concerning the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. as well as President John F. Kennedy (including CIA, FBI and other intelligence agency files) should be made available to them as well as the committee. Mr. Sprague, Ray and Ray's legal team believed the files would produce evidence that Ray did not shoot Martin Luther King Jr.

One week later Richard Sprague was forced to resign his post because he found it impossible to do his job with the requirement that he sign a secrecy agreement before he could view the files he requested.  He did not believe he could properly investigate a US Government Department or Agency if he agreed to keep secret the proof that Ray wasn't the assassin of King.  Secret Files That Would Have Proven James Earl Ray Not Guilty

Many waited eagerly for the Brammertz report (the new UN chief investigator) to be presented to the UN today (March 15, 2006).

Some had expectations that it is going to be a real indictment of Syria, those were disappointed because the Belgian prosecutor was quite serious in looking for who killed former premier Rafiq Hariri with no intensions what so ever to politicize matters.

Something that Syria was a victim of in Millis former report (Former UN chief Investigator). The Brammertz's report says that Syria cooperated and expressed readiness to go all the way and do what ever it takes to get at the perpetrators of the crime that targeted both Syria and Lebanon.  Brammertz Report

Animal Rescue Resident

Muttshack Katrina Animal Rescue Said "Save - Don't Euthanase" And Rescued 70 Animals Distemper is a highly infectious virus disease occurring in certain animals mainly dogs and cats, and characterized by loss of appetite, discharge from the eyes and nose and often paralysis and death. With all the toxins and unsanitary conditions left in the wake of Katrina and Rita along the Gulf Coast, it was not then surprising that with desperate shortages of personnel and medical supplies that a few dogs suffering from distemper caused the threat of a massive outbreak where hundreds of sheltered animals were put at risk.

Muttshack Katrina Animal Rescue realized that in order to save the healthy ones, the sick ones would have to be destroyed unless an alternative was found. As a pre-emptive strike, the Tangipahoa Parish Animal Control (a governmental agency under the Tangipahoa Parish Council in Hammond) decided to shut down their facility to avoid possible disaster. "We put out an urgent call for vaccines and sterilizing material," said Amanda St. John, the founder of MuttShack Animal Rescue. Muttshack Katrina Animal Rescue Save 70 Animals From Certain Death

AAA Monkeys - "See No Evil?" – Clean Air Act and the Automobile Club of America Challenge to Pennsylvania Clean Vehicles Program

Clean Air Council Website

In 1990 the US Federal Government passed the Clean Air Act.  Since the state of Pennsylvania was not in attainment of the standards set, they had to create a program, to be approved by the federal government, in order to avoid stiff penalties.  Part of this program was the Pennsylvania Clean Vehicles Program.

The Clean Vehicles Program helps improve air quality since about one third of smog is created by exhaust.  Reducing smog-forming emissions is much cheaper and easier than reducing pollution from business and industry.  Additionally, since state programs are stricter than federal programs they do much more to help air than the federal standard alone.  AAA Monkeys - "See No Evil?" – Clean Air Act and the Automobile Club of America Challenge to  Pennsylvania Clean Vehicles Program

Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney Submits Bill to House Government Reform Committee to Investigate MLK Assassination

 Cynthia McKinney

Los Angeles, California, USA  Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney of Georgia submits a bill to the House Government Reform Committee that if passed would reopen the Martin Luther King Jr. assassination investigation.  Due to the fact that there was little evidence in the case to ever convict James Earl Ray in a trial for the murder and that the Memphis Police Department and the FBI made a complete farce out of the following investigation it was just a lucky break for the prosecution that Ray pled guilty.

He only did that because he was threatened by his lawyer and the FBI with all kinds of injustice; like the re-incarceration of his 70 year old father and the imprisonment of his brothers as well as the simple conclusion by his lawyer Mr. Percy Foreman that he would be electrocuted for sure if he went to trial.

Evidence of tampering in the investigation by United States government departments along with the fact that agents of the FBI and CIA seemingly playing double roles in the whole matter simply add to a very confusing case that is desperate for clarity.  Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney Submits Bill to House Government Reform Committee to Investigate MLK Assassination

Martin Luther King Jr.

On March 28, 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. was leading a protest march on Main Street in Memphis Tennessee when all hell broke loose. He had come to Memphis to help the garbage collection employees of the city of Memphis in their strike for better wages and safer working conditions.

Garbage collectors had been seriously hurt and some killed due to the lack of training and dangerous trucks they worked on. They were paid meagerly by the city and most of them were black. Martin Luther King Jr. was asked to come and help them and he did.

Few people realized that the danger wasn't just for the garbage workers but within a week of this day that started out as a march and ended up in rioting and mayhem King himself would be shot down and killed in Memphis. Vice President Dick Cheney Hunting Accident - Silent Heart Attacks Go Undiagnosed in Women More than Men

Dick Cheney

A Dutch study concerning silent heart attacks came out about the same time that Vice President Cheney’s hunting buddy, Harry Whittington, suffered a “minor heart attack”  According to the Dutch study, four in 10 heart attacks go “unrecognized.”

Whittington did not even know he was having a heart attack.  He experienced no pain or symptoms.  The doctors picked up on it because he had an irregular heart beat.   Evidently one of the pellets migrated to the heart causing a temporary blockage of blood flow.

Whittington was lucky, but the Dutch research found that heart attacks in women go unrecognized more often than they do in men.  Senior author of the Dutch study, Dr Jacqueline Witteman, Associate Professor of Epidemiology, said “Overall, 43% of the total heart attacks had been clinically unrecognized – a third of the male heart attacks and more than a half of the female heart attacks. This is a significant proportion of all the MIs."   Vice President Dick Cheney Hunting Accident - Silent Heart Attacks Go Undiagnosed in Women More than Men

Florida Libertarians Get People in Office

Lady Liberty

St Petersburg, Fl--Slowly but surely, Florida Libertarians are getting people in local office, from citizen advisory boards to elected positions. Their growing number not only affects policy, but signals changes in public thinking, they say.

Many observers agree. "They're winning," says the Miami Herald bluntly in an editorial on the growing presence of the Libertarians, noting that while the positions seem modest, the Libertarians are putting them to full use.

Libertarians champion human rights and call for private and voluntary replacements to government programs.  Florida Libertarians Get People in Office

Evangelical Christian Energy and Global Warming Initiative - Government Plans to Cut Emissions

President Bush

Evangelical leaders announced a call to action on global warming Wednesday.  They are asking the government and businesses to agree to on “cost-effective, market-based” regulations in an effort to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. There were 86 leaders who signed on to the “call to action” including Pastor Rick Warren, author of the best selling book, “The Purpose Driven Life”.

Other signers include leaders in the Salvation Army and World Vision relief organization.  Duane Liftin, the president of Wheaton College, has singed on as well.  Wheaton College has been called the “evangelical Harvard”, according to Fortune writer Marc Gunther.

The group plans on spending $200,000 to get their message across.  This will include modest buys in TV, radio and the print media advertments.  The TV commercials will run on Fox News, CNN and local stations.  The TV ads are expected to show images of hybrid cars and windmills, and say “We can stop global warming for our kids, our world and for our Lord,” according to Gunther.  Radio ads will run on stations owned by Salem Communications.  This is a Christian firm.   Evangelical Christian Energy and Global Warming Initiative - Government Plans to Cut Emissions

Libertarians May Get 20% of Seats

Libertarians May Get 20% of Seats

Election 2006

Orlando, FL-Those Costa Rican Libertarians are at it  again: They may well get 20% of the seats in the Costa Rican Congress.

That's pretty significant in a party that wants to abolish or radically minimize government, was founded a few years ago, and whose leader's response when he first heard of Libertarianism  was, "What in the world is that?"

They certainly know what they want to do now: raise people's self-ownership by ending several hi-cost government monopolies, get Costa Rica out of the Drug War, and raise people's incomes by removing antique regulations that hinder low-income businesspeople and can hinder property ownership.   Libertarians May Get 20% of Seats
