Utopian Republicans Create Credibility Cavern

Please excuse my impudence, but I strongly disagree with Newt Gingrich's assessment that the globe is embroiled in World War III. Currently there are some very violent regional conflicts in the Middle East that have been a direct, although unforeseen, response to the Bush Administration's War Against International Terrorism. These conflicts, though, do not measure up to the confrontations between industrial and economic giants of the 20th century.

In spite of the horrible consequences of American intervention in the region, Gingrich and the Bush Administration seem almost giddy that relations between Israel and its neighbors are now in a state of war. "What we're seeing here," claims Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, "are the birth pangs of a new Middle East." She says that the mission of the US in guiding this conflict is to, “be certain that we are pushing forward to the new Middle East, not going back to the old one.”  Complete Article

Science and a Young Earth - Evolution Vs Creationism – Christian Perspective on Science

Science and a Young Earth - Evolution Vs Creationism – Christian Perspective on Science

Young Earth

Haven't geologists proved from scientific dating methods that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old? Doesn't astronomy prove that the universe must, at least, be billions of years old since it would have required billions of years for light from the nearest stars to reach the Earth? Don't all qualified scientists, including geologists, believe in Darwinian evolution and a billions of years old Earth and universe? The simple answer is "no".

Both evolutionists and creationists have certain built-in assumptions in interpreting and using scientific data when it comes to the Earth's age. The issue many times comes down to which assumptions are more reasonable. Dating rocks is not a hard (no pun intended) science.  Complete Article

The disastrous Presidency of George Bush – Would Gore Have Been Better In Hindsight?  War in Iraq – Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Bring Back Gridlock

Although I didn’t vote for either candidate, when George Bush beat out Al Gore for President, both my wife and I were extremely happy.  I remember that night as we both high-fived each other and were extremely happy Gore lost.  We all worried the next day when the election votes in Florida were in doubt.

Since then we have seen what a Republican congress and White House can do together, and it is not pretty.  The deficit with wild spending is still out of control and we have a conflict in progress with no end in sight.  Complete Article

Israel and The Land – War in Middle East – Christian Perspective and Ideas for Stopping Terrorism

Israel and The Land – War in Middle East – Christian Perspective and Ideas for Stopping Terrorism

Northern Israel

The best way for Israel to stop terrorist attacks in its territory is by first ceasing its occupation of all Arab land it captured in the 1967 War which, admittedly, Israel did out of self-defense. Israel was correct in defending itself.

However, the issue now is no longer so much self-defense. The problem is that Israel will not pull back to its pre-1967 borders so long as many Israelis and most evangelical Christians in America continue to believe that present day Jews have a biblical right to all of Arab territory in Palestine. For this reason a biblical examination of the issue is necessary.  Complete Article

School Board Meeting

School Boards Are Destroying America!! Who gets elected to the local and state school boards?  The atheist, the blind, or the foolish? What issue are we trying to address here?  It’s the issue of teaching our students reality, and not giving a monopoly to insanity.

What are we speaking about?  You guessed it, the exclusive teaching of evolution in public school biology science classes! A lot of “empty wagons” get their voices heard, while the ones with the most wisdom in this area are muffled, if not totally ignored.  Its way past the time for parents to take action, and stop letting our children be indoctrinated in Atheism. What choice do we have?  Is there a resolution to the “creation/evolution controversy”?  No, there isn’t.  Complete Article

AMERICA’S NEW TWO PARTY SYSTEM—THE EUROPEAN PARTY (DEMOCRATS) AND THE AMERICAN PARTY (REPUBLICANS)

Commentary

It’s been forty years since the late great longshoreman philosopher Eric Hoffer told a stunned Eric Severeid that John F. Kennedy was not an American—he was a European. Severeid was interviewing Hoffer for CBS in what turned out to be the greatest single hour in television history. How many times did JFK cross the Mississippi asked Hoffer, and how many times did he cross the Atlantic? If Hoffer were alive today he would probably accuse the entire Democratic Party of crossing the Atlantic.   Complete Article

Consider, for a moment, the potential affects on violence in the world if President Bush, from the Oval Office, announced:

“It is clear that our efforts in the Middle East to replace violence with political debate has been an abject failure. In the process my administration has placed an undue strain on America's families by sending their spouses and children to foreign lands for unachievable causes and from the economic consequences of depleting public coffers for funding such, not to mention the financial burden we've placed upon the working class from the surge in oil prices caused by the instability in the region that contains the world's oil largest oil fields.  Complete Article

The observation is offered here that John Calvin was right; that, “For our nature is not merely bereft of good, but is so productive of every kind of evil that it cannot be inactive.” Calvin's assertion applies to all humanity and covers every member of the Bush Administration including the president himself.

Consequently, when Chris Floyd, in The Alchemists: Turning Blood into Gold, reported the Bush Administration rebuffed a 2003 request of Iran's clerics and then-President Mohammed Khatami to settle concerns the administration currently considers worth making war over, it is easy to think the worst.

Politics - Flag Burning Amendment Defeated - Freedom to Act Stupid Alive and Well in the US

Daniel Inouye

When I think about the flag burning amendment to the constitution I think about all of those brave Americans that died so that we would have the freedom to burn the flag if we so choose.  If the amendment had passed, it would have been a slap in the face of all of those soldiers that have died or who were injured for this country and our freedom.

Many senators said this is not the most pressing matter before the congress.  "No, no, not even close," said Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.).  So I ask “why insist on modifying the Constitution over it?” Politics - Flag Burning Amendment Defeated - Freedom to Act Stupid Alive and Well in the US

Is there a link between the problems of illegal immigration and the trade deficit?  Illegal immigrants come to this country because they can make as much in one hour as they can in one day in their home country.  Manufacturers can make products overseas because the cost of labor is less.  The answer to the question is obvious: Wages are higher in this country compared to other countries.   All Roads of Regulation Lead to Isolationism – Common Thread between Illegal Immigration and Our Trade Deficit with China

“What matters about Haditha?” So asked The Nation in a recent editorial. Indeed supporters of the occupation of Iraq have elevated the massacres in Haditha of last November to a litmus test for patriotism and conservatism.

Sean Hannity has chastised those who have raised concerns over the execution-style murders of women and children in Haditha for being politically motivated. He has even declared that such concerns bring danger upon American soldiers on the ground during their occupational duties.

To validate his accusation on his June 1 broadcast he featured the comments of a soldier who was present at the Haditha operation who attested that women and children routinely act as scouts and conduits of information for insurrectionists who would bring harm to American soldiers  How is Supporting the Iraqi Occupation Supporting the Troops?

Christianity, Society, and Homosexuality

Commentary - Christianity, Society, and Homosexuality

Commentary

There is much to be said on Christian attitudes towards homosexuals. Recently, some popular groups who claim to be Christian have taken a militant approach to homosexuals and used the Bible to justify persecuting them and denying them of all rights. Whether their case is supported by the Bible shall be examined.

Before we begin this examination, however, it is important to point out that homosexuals need to respect the right of heterosexuals, particularly Christian heterosexuals, to reject homosexuality as sin, as deviant behavior, and as biblically and morally wrong. On the other hand, it is also important that homosexuals not be persecuted by Christians and be denied certain basic civil rights and liberties. Christianity, Society, and Homosexuality

Republicans need to lose their majorities in Congress and in the state legislatures where they hold them. This is not because the Democrats are better. They are not. Rather they deserve such a fate because they have defied every principle they claimed as they built public support that carried them to their current powerful political status.

Government is more intrusive than it has ever been and on a more personal level. The federal government has absorbed more of the power from state and local governments than could have been tried under Democrat regimes. Over the last 20 years the Republicans have worked hard to make liberal a bad word and have been successful to the point that few actual “liberals” will use that label to describe themselves.  “Progressive” seems to be the most popular term, followed closely by “independent.”  Liberal, however, shouldn’t be considered a bad word, and just because the Republicans have corrupted its meaning shouldn’t stop us from using it to describe us.  It is our fault, though, for letting Republicans dictate the meaning of it and putting us on the defensive.

Maybe if the American public knew what liberal meant, they’d have an easier time distinguishing between what the Republicans say a liberal is and what an actual liberal is.  From the Yahoo Reference site, the definition of liberal is:  Call Them What They Are - Fascist Republicans and Liberal Democrats

And in a brilliant, highly educational follow-up comment, Bush informed the audience: "One reason why the price is so high is because the price of crude oil has been driven up."

Outing CIA Agent - Keep It Simple - Mr. Fitzgerald Investigation of Leaks in the Bush Administration

Dick Cheney

For all intent and purposes, the special prosecutor’s duty in the CIA leak case is straightforward.  How the investigation ever got so complicated is beyond me.  Mr Fitzgerald needs to keep it simple.

Valerie Plame was a CIA agent in July 2003, and the fact that she was a CIA officer was classified. The responsibilities of some CIA employees require that their association with the agency be kept secret, because disclosure has the potential to damage national security in ways that range from preventing the future use of the agents, to compromising intelligence-gathering methods, to endangering the safety of CIA employees, and people who they may be associated with.

Valerie's status was not widely known. The special prosecutor verified that her friends, neighbors, and college classmates had no idea she had another life. Outing CIA Agent - Keep It Simple - Mr. Fitzgerald Investigation of Leaks in the Bush Administration

FDA Claims Marijuana Too Dangerous For Medical Purposes - This is Counter to Previous Government Findings - Studies Show Benefits for Nausea and Pain

Marijuana

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) claims that marijuana is too dangerous to be used as a medicine.  According to the FDA, marijuana “met the three criteria for placement in Schedule I under 21 U.S.C. 812(b)(1) (e.g., marijuana has a high potential for abuse, has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, and has a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision).”

This new FDA finding runs counter to the previous independent report that shows the medical benefits of marijuana.  In 1997 the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) asked the Institute of Medicine to conduct a review of the scientific evidence to assess the potential health benefits and risks of marijuana and its constituent cannabinoids.  FDA Claims Marijuana Too Dangerous For Medical Purposes - This is Counter to Previous Government Findings - Studies Show Benefits for Nausea and Pain

And the chat wasn't limited to Bush and Cheney. “Other White House officials who also attended the meeting with Cheney and President Bush,” Jason reports, “included former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, her former deputy Stephen Hadley, and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove.”  Bush and Cheney Directed Wilson-Plame Hit Squad

Dear Republicans,

You see, I spent most of my life supporting your campaigns and your stated principles of governing, but left your party out of frustration with what I considered to be your dereliction of duty during the Clinton presidency.

My disenchantment with your party was not caused by your inability to properly deal with the ineptitude of the Clinton Administration, but goes back to how you choked off and killed the populist movement that grew out of the “Contract with America”. During those heady days of 1994-5 when Republican candidates catapulted to congressional majorities and earned control of a majority of state legislatures I believed that conservative thought would begin dissipating power out of Washington, D.C., and begin restoring a federal balance of powers between states and the national government that was intended by the US Constitution.  Dear Republicans,  Please Save America Before You Save the World - Open Letter to Republican Party Concerning War Against Iran

“Yesterday I spoke about an important example of the gains we and the Iraqis have made, and that is in the northern city of Tal Afar. The city was once under al Qaeda control, and thanks to coalition and Iraqi forces, the terrorists have now been driven out of that city. Iraqi security forces are maintaining law and order. We see the outlines of a free and secure Iraq that we and the Iraqi people have been fighting for. As we mark the third anniversary of the launch of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the success we're seeing in Tal Afar gives me confidence in the future of Iraq.” President Bush during his March 21 press conference.

“As the chorus saying 'sweeps are useless' grows, inside as well as outside the military, the U.S. military in Iraq continues its sweeps. The latest Iraqi city to get swept is Tal Afar. Massachusetts Experiment in Socialized Medicine - The State May Spend Hundreds of Millions To Make Sure Everyone Is Insured

Quest for Nanny State

The Massachusetts legislature is looking at a bill that would require universal health insurance.  According to William C. Symonds of Business week the plan “marries conservative and liberal ideas.”  According to Symonds, every state resident will be required to have health insurance.  The bill will include an individual mandate.

Amazingly, Republican Governor Mitt Romney calls this a conservative victory.  Romney considers himself a moderate republican and is expected to run for President in 2008.  I have to ask, “What has happened to the Republican Party?”  Sure, republicans tout individual responsibility, but this is not the same thing.  This is government force.  This is a case where one bad law leads to more bad laws.  What bad law is that, you ask?  The law that puts the burden on the taxpayer for medical payments.  Hospitals should be allowed to turn people away for whatever reason they wish.  Massachusetts Experiment in Socialized Medicine - The State May Spend Hundreds of Millions To Make Sure Everyone Is Insured

It is a sad day today because I just found out Tom Delay will not be running for re-election, and plans to do something else, quite possibly becoming a lobbyist.  I believe he would make a great lobbyist because he has been on the inside for so long.  He understands what motivates congressional leaders more than most on capital hill.

It will be great to watch the Texas Republican follow in the footsteps of other great lobbyists like Jack Abramoff.

He may be resigning because he needs more time to defend himself from his legal troubles.  Delay was indicted in Texas last year concerning campaign-finance irregularities and possible illegal activity.  To the dismay of many Democrats, Delay decided to step down as House Majority Leader.  It would have been great to have the sitting Republican Leader under indictment.  Tom Delay Will not Run For Reelection - Democrats Disappointed - May Become Lobbyist like Jack Abramoff or Write a Book

Illegal Immigration Is a Drain on the United States - New Proposed Legislation Sparks Protests Nationwide

Border Fence

It is about time that the Federal Government stepped up to the plate with legislation making “being in this country illegally” a felony.  For decades the US has allowed people to enter the country to find work, sign up for social programs, put their kids in public schools and use emergency medical services.

Many Americans in border states have complained for years as they watched their hospital emergency rooms shut down due to uninsured, unpaid visits.  Of course, not all uninsured patients are undocumented, and illegal immigrants do pay sales tax like everyone else.

But even if an illegal immigrant pays income and sales tax, there is no evidence that they add to the economy.  One trip to the emergency medical room can cost tens of thousands of dollars (or more), and since most illegals have fewer skills and less education than most other Americans, their contribution to the tax base is lower.  Illegal Immigration Is a Drain on the United States - New Proposed Legislation Sparks Protests Nationwide

Iraq War Intensifies as US Warplanes Strike Rebel Targets - Operation Swarmer May Shift Support Away From US Occupation

Checking Bomb Inventory

The Americans launched a large scale assault on a new Iraqi insurgent stronghold today.  Reports indicate it is the largest air assault since the initial invasion in 2003.  The raids will likely continue for several days.

This begs the question: Will this allow the US to Win?  I think the first thing we need to do is define what “win” means.  Does it mean that there are no more attacks or does it mean the Iraqis are able to take care of themselves?  Who determines when the Iraqis are able to take car of them selves and by what criteria do we use to judge this.

Since the beginning of the war, pro-war pundits said the President should not set a date for withdraw from Iraq.  There should not be “timetable”, many argued.  Now that the President’s poll numbers have dropped into the mid 30% range, he hints at a timetable for troop withdrawal. Open Letter from Gary Revel - Investigation in to the Martin Luther King Jr Assassination - Request For Payment Petition

Martin Luther King Jr.

It's 3:12 am Monday March 06, 2006 and I am unable to sleep and sitting here at my computer with much on my heart to communicate to you but finding the words hard to come by.  First of all I realize that my anger at what was simple deception by the US Government or a horrible misunderstanding of multiple consequence has run a destructive course in my life for many years.  I am realizing that I must forgive others as well as myself for what still is a very confusing problem.

I have felt a duty and obligation since 1977 to investigate, find and help bring to justice the assassin(s) of Martin Luther King Jr.  That feeling was often unreal, vague, uncertain and yet compelling which caused me great pain.  It was January 21st 2006 when I found the 1979 US Government Printing Office published book 'The Investigation of the Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr." and saw my name and the words Special Investigator that the scales began to fall off my eyes.  Open Letter from Gary Revel - Investigation in to the Martin Luther King Jr Assassination -  Request For Payment Petition

The Constitution of 1788 is a threat to the government of 2006

Constitution

Let the record clearly show that this author pays great respect to the US Constitutions and its framers. This admiration goes beyond the definitions of the limits on the power of the various offices of national government, but it is particularly zealous for the inferred safeguards that buttress the walls that protect common liberty from power lusting individuals.

The most fascinating example of such a safeguard was through the original selection of the US Senate. Until 1913 each state legislature chose two senators to serve in the Congress of the United States. This system was established to protect the sovereignty of the states and keep the power of the national government in check.

"...In this senate are lodged legislative, executive and judicial powers," so stated Letter III from Letters from the "Federal Farmer" to "The Republican", Published in New York, November 8, 1787. The Constitution of 1788 is a threat to the government of 2006

AAA Monkeys - "See No Evil?" – Clean Air Act and the Automobile Club of America Challenge to Pennsylvania Clean Vehicles Program

Clean Air Council Website

In 1990 the US Federal Government passed the Clean Air Act.  Since the state of Pennsylvania was not in attainment of the standards set, they had to create a program, to be approved by the federal government, in order to avoid stiff penalties.  Part of this program was the Pennsylvania Clean Vehicles Program.

The Clean Vehicles Program helps improve air quality since about one third of smog is created by exhaust.  Reducing smog-forming emissions is much cheaper and easier than reducing pollution from business and industry.  Additionally, since state programs are stricter than federal programs they do much more to help air than the federal standard alone.  AAA Monkeys - "See No Evil?" – Clean Air Act and the Automobile Club of America Challenge to  Pennsylvania Clean Vehicles Program

American government too important to serve Americans

American government too important to serve Americans

President Bush

It seems that the next imperative for freeing the world of tyranny, according to experts in the Bush administration and their supporters, is intimidating Iran from developing any nuclear technology. Economic and military strategies are devoted to dissuade Iran's government from developing nuclear abilities that can defend or serve its citizens. Explanations for how Iran poses such a threat to the safety of the world's indispensable nation, however, are not being developed.

Is it unreasonable or unpatriotic to ponder how a land locked nation of 93 million people with no navy, no long range air force, no intercontinental ballistic missile systems or heavy industrial capabilities can be a threat to the safety of a nation of 300 million citizens half a world away that boasts of all the aforementioned military and industrial resources? Speakers at Florida Libertarian Conference

Speakers at Florida Libertarian Conference

Jim Babka

Boca Raton, FL--The Libertarian Party of Florida Convention and Conference will host major speakers on problems in government (http://lpf2006.org/speakers.html). They include a Libertarian tax-slashing, public service increasing mayor and representatives from an organization of policemen determined to end the Drug War.

The problems are sometimes maddeningly mundane. Jim Babka of the activist group DownSize DC is coordinating a campaign to encourage legislators to actually read the laws they pass. Many legislators admit that most laws are passed unread by the people whose job is to craft them and understand what they mean, they say. The Florida Libertarian Party is the first and only political party whose candidates are expected to read what they pass.  Speakers at Florida Libertarian Conference

US Government Stole Private James Earl Ray Interviews

US Government Stole Private James Earl Ray Interviews

Chief Counsel Richard Sprague emphasized the point in the first interview with James Earl Ray on March 22, 1977 that the tape recordings Special Investigator Gary Revel was making of the interviews were private. He assured all those present that the HSCA would not make public the contents of the tapes at any time. The agreement was that only the upcoming testimony of Mr. James Earl Ray before the HSCA would be made public.

On January 21, 2006 Gary Revel learned for the first time that the interviews were published in 1979. After consulting with attorney Jack Kershaw who was James' attorney at the time he realized that the only way the US Government could have gotten the interviews and transcribed them for publication is if they stole them.
