They are all liars

It’s a sad day when you just accept that
your Nation’s leaders are almost surreally full of crap.
The U.S. is being led by a corrupt regime that believes they know how to
make things better economically for its people. To achieve these goals,
unfortunately, they need to go through a lot of bombs and human tissue.
Call me a bleeding heart, but I disagree with that economic policy.
Don’t get me wrong, though, I really do try to keep perspective. I mean,
this administration only has a couple years left, right? Even the plague
ceased being a big problem after a while.
At this juncture, perspective for me is to accept that all sides of
political are full of crap. Every so often, I’ll get an e-mail from Move-on.org,
or Go-Democrats-go.net or Hey-Lets-Hear-it-for-the-Whigs.com.
These types of organizations irritate me nearly as much as the current
administration does. Though to be fair, those organizations aren’t really
organizations, they are just the Democratic Party under a different name.
And, in my often-cluttered mind, Democrats are as responsible for the Middle
East carnage as Republicans.
So while Dick Cheney has the intestinal fortitude to look Larry King in the
eye, tell him Amnesty International is worthless, the Iraq insurgency is
dying out, that detainees at Guantanamo Bay have been treated well, and then
railing against North Korea, I don’t consider it his responsibility.
Cheney and Co. have used the U.S. system to get what they wanted and they
are all extremely experienced and savvy. They know that flat-out lying to
the public is not a big problem and that anything with patriotism somehow
linked to it, will pass.
To me, that they were able to do this means that the system is either
horribly flawed, or that our leaders, at all levels and both sides, are
wildly incompetent. I choose the latter.
Perspective has shown me that there are no good guys in American politics.
The neo-con group has done what it’s done because people of that flavor are
prone to despotic ambition. That lie after lie comes out about things in
Iraq, yet get overshadowed by political haggling and public-relation issues
tells me that the U.S. is now a one-party nation.
Why couldn’t one politician stand up in front of a group of reporters and
say “Tough break for Terri Schiavo and her family. But, being that we’re at
war and all, we need someone else to worry about her.”
Lying to Larry King is easy, I suppose. Telling the truth to U.S.citizens is
political suicide. And don’t let the millions they spend on ads and Web
sites fool you. Let them make it more clear: They are all liars.
